Dear Friend and Fellow Citizen,
I sure hope the Reggae band Inner Circle (COPS TV SHOW THEME MUSIC) doesn’t mind if I do a little adjusting of their famous lyrics but I want to get you in the proper frame of mind for an upcoming event. Here’s goes:
BAD BOYS, BAD BOYS WHATCHA GONNA DO
WHEN DA FAIRMONT FOLKS GOT THEIR EYES ON YOU.
BAD BOYS, BAD BOYS WHATCHA GONNA DO
WHEN THE FAIRMONT P.D. COMES FOR YOU
BAD BOYS, BAD BOYS WHERE YA GONNA GO
WE’LL MAKE SURE IT’S JAIL FOR SHO’.
When FOX TV first aired COPS in 1989 it was in Sheriff Nick Navarro’s Broward County Florida and Inner Circle’s lyrics BAD BOYS became synonymous with the show. 450+ episodes later the show is famous world wide as a portrayal of local law enforcements daily exploits. Another activity aimed at highlighting local law enforcement and crime prevention is COMMUNITY OR NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH. Begun in the 80’s the organization has spread throughout our nation. Their signature event, NATIONAL NIGHT OUT, highlights the need for a community to band together with its law enforcement to stamp out crime. Except for Texas, all NNO events are held the first Tuesday in August.
On Tuesday evening Fairmont will be presenting its version of National Night Out at 7:00 p.m. in the air conditioned Heritage Center. The only ones who’ll be sweatin’ crime that night will be the criminals. The organizers have an outstanding program for you. (See attached flyer promoting the event)
