LUMBERTON — The City Council on Monday is expected to greenlight a new location for homeless veterans.

The K&L Veteran Affairs Home, a halfway house, is moving from 903 Glenn St. to 411 Carthage Road, and needs a conditional-use permit approved by the council.

The following conditions must be met by the halfway house: Only honorably discharged veterans will be allowed to reside at the location, no more than seven veterans can live there at a single time, no felons will be allowed residency and the driveway must be paved within two years of permit approval.

The Glenn Street location was approved for occupancy on Aug. 8, 2011, but according to Karla Carter, founder of the halfway house, the home is in foreclosure.

The council on Monday is also expected to:

n Adopt a resolution renewing a five-year safety and maintenance agreement with the state Department of Transportation for routine safety maintenance at Lumberton Municipal Airport.

n Adopt a resolution asking the state to restore funding for the Clean Water Management Trust Fund.

n Approve an agreement with property owner Dick Taylor for him to place an awning over the sidewalk at 210 and 212 N. Chestnut St.

n Approve contracting with The Wooten Company for it to provide technical assistance for the construction of a new home for the Lumberton Christian Care Center. A $500,000 Community Development Block Grant is paying for construction.

n Designate $500 of Community Revitalization Funds to assist a disabled veteran with filling an abandoned swimming pool that is a health threat. The property is at 708 Belle St.

n Designate $372 of Community Revitalization Funds for maintenance and beautification at The Oaks subdivision.

n Approve sewer rates for the next four years.

n Award a bid to PowerSecure Inc. to install a new generator at City Hall. The current generator will be moved to the new Police Department building.

n Hold a public hearing on a rezoning request for a property on Griffin Street.
