The program is deigned to quickly locate missing people who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments. Plate sale: The Fairmont Rural fire department is having a barbecue plate sale April 3 and 4. Plates or a pound of barbecue is $5. The Presbyterian Women of Fairmont First Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Springfest on April 4 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in th efellowship hall. Car wash: AMR’s team for the Relay for Life will be holding a car wash at 2307 Elizabethtown Road in Lumberton April 4. The price is $8 for cars and $10 for trucks and SUVs.

Springfest: The Presbyterian Women of Fairmont First Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Springfest on April 4 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The church is located on the corner of Church and Davis Street. The fellowship hall itself is on Davis Street. Cakes, pies, cookies, and other baked goods , casseroles, chicken salad plates, ham biscuits, sausage biscuits, sandwiches, drinks will be for sale.

Business Expo: The Lu Mil Vineyard is holding a business expo April 4 sponsored by the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Head Start program: Head Start is accepting applications for children who will be age 3 to 4 by August 31. Bereavement Support Group: Designed to offer support to grieving persons who have experienced the loss of a loved one, will begin a new five-week session on Jan. 20. Support Group: The HealthKeeperz Hospice will start a grief support group which will be open to the public. Volunteers: The Gibson Cancer Center, an affiliate of Southeastern Regional Medical Center, needs licensed cosmetologists, manicurists and massage therapists to volunteer at the “Terrific Tuesday” event on the first Tuesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are also needed to oversee arts and crafts activities during the event. “Terrific Tuesday” is designed to help patients and their family members feel more at ease during their visits to the Center by offering healthy refreshments, crafts, manicures, makeovers, hair cuts and chair massages. In addition, the Center is looking for volunteers Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until noon to distribute movies, music, magazines and refreshments to patients.
