William (Bill) Kenneth Allen, 80, of Aberdeen, passed away Nov. 4, 2012, at High Point Regional Hospital in High Point.

A memorial celebrating his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Springs Baptist Church.

Allen was born in Tar Heel in Bladen County. Allen was retired from the Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad in Aberdeen.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Betty Speedy Allen; a sister, Katherine; and a brother, Jim.

He is survived by his wife of 41 ½ years, Carolyn Thomas Allen of the home; a stepson, Chan Shaver and wife Kim of Jamestown; his grandchildren, Paul Kenneth Shaver and Ashley Caroline Shaver, all of Jamestown; a sister, Juanita Allen Phillips and husband Preston of Lumberton; his mother-in-law, Irene Britt Thomas of Jackson Springs; his-in-laws, Joe Hanford and wife Annette Thomas of High Point and Dayle and Larry Pusser of Eagle Springs; his beloved nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, John Melville.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Bill may be made as a love offering to the J. Melville Family, c/o the Rev. Shaver, P.O. Box 1641, Jamestown, N.C., 27282.
