FAIRMONT — A 46-year-old Fairmont woman was killed Sunday morning when she apparently lost control of her vehicle and it struck a tree.
According to state Highway Patrol Trooper Kyle Covington's report, Mary Lois Locklear, of 800 E. White Pond Road, was killed at 12:41 in a single-car accident on Rural Paved Road 2426, about three miles from Fairmont. Locklear was alone in the vehicle.
According to the report, Locklear was driving a 1994 Oldsmobile north at about 70 mph in a 55-mph zone when the vehicle crossed the center line to the left and she overcorrected, causing the car to run off the road to the right. The vehicle struck a ditch, partially overturned and then struck a tree. Locklear was not wearing a seat belt.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000.
