Lumbee River EMC to credit members

RED SPRINGS — The Lumbee River Electric Membership Corp. board of directors recently announced the return of $1.25 million to the corporation’s members in a Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment, the result of a credit the corporation received from its power supplier.

The average Lumbee River EMC residential member uses approximately 1,400 kWh per month. Based on this average usage, the typical credit that a residential member will see on his or her bill will be $17.25.

Marion named BB&T’s regional president

WINSTON-SALEM — Phil Marion, previously a city executive for Lumberton, has been named the regional president of the North Carolina Southeast Region of BB&T Corporation. Marion replaces Jeff Etheridge, who retired after a 41-year career in banking.

Marion has more than 31 years of banking experience, and has served as a business services officer in Raleigh, manager for the Piedmont Region in Winston-Salem and corporate banker for the Piedmont Region.
