FAIRMONT — The town of Fairmont will hold a “Santa Visits the Kids” program for parents and grandparents who want Santa to deliver gift to their children or grandchildren in their home on Christmas Eve from 5 to 8 p.m.

Santa will deliver the gifts while riding in a fire truck.

The program is open to Fairmont residents who can drop off as many pre-wrapped presents with the name, home address and best time to deliver to the Fairmont Police Department at 421 S. Main St.

LUMBERTON — The Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater will hold a performance by the Glen Miller Orchestra, a big band, on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m.

LUMBERTON — A juried art show, “Carolina’s Got Art!”, is accepting submissions of paintings, photography, sculptures, woven pieces and ceramics by artists from North Carolina and South Carolina to be judged.

The winner, whose work will be judged by art critic, Lance Esplund, of Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal, will receive $15,000 in cash and prizes.

LUMBERTON — Golden Leaf Masonic Lodge 124 will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Scholarship Program on Jan. 19, 2013, beginning with an African American History display from 2 to 3 p.m. at McCormick Chapel AME Church at 215 Main St.

The event, which will be hosted by Rev. Dr. Judy V. Johnson, pastor of the church, will feature guest speaker, Rep. Milton F. Fitch Jr. The service will honor slainLumberton police Officer Jeremiah Goodson and others.
