LUMBERTON — Southeastern Health and Southeastern Heart Center will hold the fifth annual Take it to Heart! Women’s Heart Event on Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Lumberton Senior High School.
This year’s event will focus on providing practical information to individuals with heart disease. Participants will have an opportunity to practice making healthy food choices for meal planning, submit questions for an ask-the-expert session, watch a Zumba demonstration, and learn about other strategies aimed at improving heart health.
Lunch will be served during the event. The cost is $5. For information or to pre-register, call 910-737-3155.
LUMBERTON — The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive on Monday from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church at 106 N. Elm St.
Type O Negative and B Negative blood are in short supply.
To donate blood, a person must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.

LUMBERTON — The Southeastern Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Center and Rehabilitation Services Department of Southeastern Health’s Fibromyalgia Support Group will meet on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Southeastern Lifestyle Day Spa, which is located behind the Southeastern Lifestyle Center for Fitness and Rehabilitation at 4895 Fayetteville Road.
The meeting will include a viewing a DVD entitled “Food for Life” featuring Dr. Neal Barnard of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. The presentation addresses how diet can help reverse chronic illness.
