LUMBERTON — The speaker of the Lumbee Tribal Council and the man who accused her in November of assault with a deadly weapon settled their respective claims against each other Thursday at the Robeson County Courthouse.
Perlean Revels and attorney Arnold Locklear met with Donald Locklear, of Maxton, and attorney Carlton Mansfield and settled Locklear’s claim, as well as a warrant Revels had taken out against Locklear, which accused him of trespassing.
“The young guy and I had a discussion and we decided to drop the charges,” Revels said. “We just agreed to do it and we just think it was in the best interests of everyone involved.”
Locklear told The Robesonian in November that he was nearly run off the road by Revels when she chased him in her vehicle on U.S. 301 in St. Pauls after seeing him leave political fliers on her vehicle that claimed the tribal government has been mishandled by Jimmy Goins, then chairman of the tribe. Revels, said at the time by saying that Locklear knew where she lived and that she was “set up,” calling the incident politically motivated.
On Thursday, Revels declined to comment on the incident.
“It’s the end of it,” she said
Revels was supporting Goins in what would turn out to be an unsuccessful bid to return as tribal chairman.
And the sad part when it happens is, it's all over another mans hard earned money.
