PEMBROKE — Fueled by a 20-point effort from Amelia Partin, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke women’s basketball team won its fifth Peach Belt Conference game of the season Saturday afternoon against North Georgia, 66-62.

Partin’s mid-range jumper with 59 seconds left broke a 61-all deadlock as the Lady Braves (11-13, 5-10) held on to snap a three-game losing skid. Two possessions earlier, UNCP’s Taylor Gallentine tied the game at 61 after North Georgia took its fourth lead of the second half in a contest that was nip and tuck over the final eight minutes.

North Georgia’s Mimi Hill finished with a game-high 32 points on 12-of-19 shooting.

In the men’s game, the Braves outlasted North Georgia in overtime, 100-93, for their 11th win in 12 games at home this season. The victory pushes UNCP’s PBC mark to 10-5 with four league games remaining.

Seniors Shahmel Brackett and George Blakeney combined for 49 points and made 18 shots. Blakeney contributed another double-double with a 26-point, 13-rebound effort.

UNCP (17-8, 10-5) hit triple digits without a single 3-point field goal.
