LUMBERTON — State Rep. Charles Graham is sponsoring a “Veterans Helping Veterans” event Saturday at Robeson Community College from 10 a.m. to about 2 p.m.
Representatives from various agencies that provide services to veterans will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about veteran benefits.
“This event will provide veterans, or the spouse of a veteran, valuable information related to benefits,” Graham said. “We will have VA staff on site to answer questions and to advise participants. Veterans with concerns or questions are strongly encouraged to participate in this annual event.”
Wesley Worsham, military services coordinator for the Department of Veterans Affairs, will be the keynote speaker. Eric Redrick, veterans representative for the state Employment Security Commission, also plans to attend.
Others invited to attend from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fayetteville include Joyce Hawkins with Rural Health; Thomas McCaffery with MyHealth eVet; Lisa Gildon with the Homeless Program; Dr. Eglintine Rigaud with Women’s Health; Vicky Johnson, Agent Orange concerns; and Diane Lee. Harold Hunt, the veteran services officer for the Lumbee Tribe, and Chris Oxendine, Robeson County’s veterans affairs director, have also been invited, according to Graham.
Topics to be discussed include health care benefits; service-connected disabilities; pensions; home loan guaranty; life insurance; and burial and memorial benefits. Transition assistance, and health care and benefits for dependents and survivors will also be discussed.
