LUMBERTON — A Pembroke man is being sought by authorities for beating his girlfriend’s mother with a handgun after robbing her, according to Lumberton police.

According to Capt. Johnny Barnes, 24-year-old Pete Allen Jacobs and a male accomplice kicked in the door of Deborah Jacobs’ home in Laiken Estates and beat her with a handgun just before midnight on Saturday. The two took money and other items from Deborah Jacobs’ home, he said.

Also in the home were Deborah Jacobs’ husband Alan, 47, a 48-year-old man named David McKnight and Deborah Jacobs’ 10-year-old grandson, Barnes said. He said Pete Jacobs and his accomplice, who covered their faces with a clown mask and a bandanna, forced the four people in the home to lie on the floor.

According to Barnes, Deborah Jacobs’ 28-year-old daughter, Damika Bullard, was waiting in a vehicle parked at Baird’s Animal Hospital.

“She got her boyfriend … to go over and rob and beat her mama,” Barnes said.

Deborah Jacobs suffered a cut to the head, Barnes said. She was taken to Southeastern Medical Center, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokesperson said.

A sheriff’s deputy was traveling N.C. 41 and saw the two men running toward the vehicle when the call about the robbery came in, Barnes said. The deputy followed the vehicle, which eventually stopped in front of Color Me Wild Body Shop, Barnes said. The two men jumped out of the car and took off running and Bullard stayed behind.

Bullard was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy and accessory after the fact. She was placed in the Robeson County jail under $60,000 bond, and was released on Tuesday after posting bond.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Pete Jacobs, who faces 13 charges, including robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary, larceny of a firearm, trafficking opium by transport and assault on a handicapped person.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3845.

Sure signs of a crackhead! She was probably mad because mommy wouldnt support her habit anymore. That sorry excuse for a daughter, and her crackhead boyfriend deserve the maximum punishment allowable! Let them go without their crack in jail.

This is a sick individual, to have her own mother beaten and robbed. What if the animal would have killed her, this sorry excuse of a daughter probably would have been happy. I can't understand who would have bailed her out, she should have been denied bail.

Happy 236th
Thousands of people were dazzled by the fireworks display at the annual Lumberton Family Fourth celebration at the Lumberton High School football stadium on Tuesday. Many watched the display from parking lots and sidewalks around town and from their own front yards. Before the show, attendees were treated to a performance by the Carolina Breakers, and a stunt by the Army Rangers, who parachuted onto the football field.

Do you think the tax structure in North Carolina should be reformed to reduce income taxes in exchange for higher sales tax and more taxes on services?
