LUMBERTON — Police are looking for a 43-year-old Lumberton they say robbed a Lumberton bank on Thursday.
According to a statement by police Capt. Terry Parker, Michael Dewey Butler, of 67 Sequoria Drive, robbed the the First South Bank located at 3000 N. Elm St. at Biggs Park Mall at 4:22 p.m. Parker said that police used videotape from a security camera to identify Butler, who has a criminal record.
Parker said that Butler, who did not display a weapon, left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no customers in the bank and no one was injured during the robbery.
Butler is described as weighing 140 to 150 pounds and is about 5 foot, 3 inches tall. Parker provided a photograph of Butler for publication, but said Butler has shorter hair now and is skinnier than the photograph depicts.
Parker said there are pending warrants for Butler for common law robbery. Butler is considered an habitual felon with a history of violence.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Butler should call the Lumberton Police Department at 910-671-3845. The North Carolina Bankers Association offers rewards for information leading to the arrest of people who rob banks.
The bank was open for business today.
