Staff report

ROWLAND — A Pembroke man and Lumberton teenager have been arrested and charged in the burglary of a Rowland home, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Marcus Grant Locklear, 25, of 202 Jones Road in Pembroke, and Shon Jonathan Topper, 19, of 1400 Huggins Road in Lumberton, were each charged with first-degree burglary and felony conspiracy in the Tuesday morning burglary of the home at 1852 Cabinet Shop Road in Rowland, according to sheriff’s Capt. Anthony Thompson. Topper is currently free on a $5,000 secured bond; Locklear is being held in the Robeson County jail under a $20,000 secured bond.

According to the report by sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Epps, investigators responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle at the home and arrived to find Topper and Grant sitting in a silver Toyota Corolla. A search found items belonging to Angela Curry beneath an open window, according to the report. Curry was asleep inside the home.

Locklear and Topper told investigators that they had dropped another man off at the home and he had burglarized the home, according to the report.

My home was broke into last year. I told DET. Patterson who did it where they were at and everyting. The people who broke into my home was caught in SC. He went to SC and interviewd them after I had called him mulitaple times. He never got back with me. I finally had to call his supervisor to get him to call me back. They were released in SC and I have informed him of this and he still has not yet tried to issus an arrest warrant for them. What do you have to do to try and get justice in robeson county. Our sheriff department is a joke. You have to someone important or know someone to get anything done here in Robeson County!!!!!!!!!

@James Hunt says "what do you have to do to get justice in Robeson County". Well, the answer is really quite simple. Unless you can get hold of Kenny Sealey, Ducky Duckworth, Reggie Strickland or Chris Germaine, TAKE CARE OF IT YOURSELF. You say you KNOW who broke into your house? And YOU didn't do anything about it? Well then, DON'T blame the Sheriff's Office. Look in the mirror. There's the trouble right there.

well percy, i hope you dont own a gun, because theres nothing worse than an idiot with a gun, james was trying to do right according to state law,if he went now or even after they left his yard, its called attemted/murder among other charges. unfortunately our judical system is crap to say the least. but law is law,and if your a good person trying to do right, you dont take care of it yourself after the fact. i own several guns, and im all about defending me and my own, but im smart enough to know after the fact theres nothing me or my gun can do. ive been robbed myself, had stuff taken out of my car, windows busted, beer bottles that the thief left in my seat.yea i wanted to hurt somebody at the time, but im not going to go around years later and start killing people for taking something thats already been replaced.

Happy 236th
Thousands of people were dazzled by the fireworks display at the annual Lumberton Family Fourth celebration at the Lumberton High School football stadium on Tuesday. Many watched the display from parking lots and sidewalks around town and from their own front yards. Before the show, attendees were treated to a performance by the Carolina Breakers, and a stunt by the Army Rangers, who parachuted onto the football field.

It's beginning to sound like we have some commissioners posting! That's ok, they can post away. I don't expect little league teams to come to me or to any one other person for any money. I expect IF the discretionary funds were added back into the budget OR combined for community uses that we either voted on or applied for, that the money would be used more wisely and it would all be more transparent. Anonymous below said it well: "While there is more transparency with the voting, the funds can still be used to buy votes, and that's a problem." It's still a huge problem and those that think the commissioners did something great, just bought what they are selling.
