PEMBROKE — Two Pembroke teenage brothers have been charged with multiple crimes after a woman whose home was broken into followed a trail of gum wrappers and soda cans and found them “passed out,” according to a sheriff’s report.

Devon Sampson, 16, and Dylan Thompson, 17, of 1454 Red Banks Road, were each charged with three counts of conspiracy, three counts of possessing stolen goods, two counts of drug possession, second-degree burglary, breaking and entering, larceny and vandalism, according to sheriff’s Detective Damien McLean.

The teenagers took more than $11,000 in jewelry, clothing, electronics, firearms and food from the home of Theresa Locklear on Onnie Joe Road, according to a report by sheriff’s Deputy Garret Hunt.

Locklear arrived home at 4:04 a.m. on Saturday and called the police after finding two windows broken and several items missing from her home, McLean said. Locklear then went to stay at a friend’s home and returned at 6:49 p.m. to find more items missing and other items displaced.

According to McLean, Locklear followed the trail of wrappers and cans to a barn in her neighbor’s yard, where she found the teenagers “passed out” among items stolen from her home.

The teenagers are being held at Robeson County jail under a $65,000 secured bond.

i dont know about Dylan. But Devin is a good person. He just lets the influence of others get the best of him. He knew better than that. Yeah, it was stupid!!! But that doesnt give anybody the right to call them idiots. Everybody isn't perfect. Everybody makes mistakes. And 15 years my rump. Everybody deserves a second chance. They made the wrong decision but im pretty sure in the future they will think twice. Especially Devin. I know that because me and him is been together too long for me to believe he actually would have done that if he had to make the choice on his own. I do know that. Now this is ME telling it like it is!

Lessons to all youth who drop out of school. Drop back in. I don't know these two idiots, but I can almost gurantee they are drop outs or in school trouble makers. They should get a minimum of 15 years because if they are let out they are more dangerous to themselves than others.

Happy 236th
Thousands of people were dazzled by the fireworks display at the annual Lumberton Family Fourth celebration at the Lumberton High School football stadium on Tuesday. Many watched the display from parking lots and sidewalks around town and from their own front yards. Before the show, attendees were treated to a performance by the Carolina Breakers, and a stunt by the Army Rangers, who parachuted onto the football field.
