RAEFORD — A Pembroke teenager was killed and another person injured during a single-car accident in Hoke County on Monday, according to the state Highway Patrol.
Sean Thomas Brayboy, 19, of Vander Drive in Pembroke, died at the scene, said patrol 1st Sgt. T.D. Simmons.
Brayboy was a passenger in the 2000 Chevrolet SUV driven by Lucas Cole Lowery, 29, of McInnis Street, Simmons said. The vehicle was traveling south on Graham Road about 6:40 a.m. when Lowery lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the road and struck a ditch and some trees.
Lowery was flown to either Duke University Medical Center or UNC Hospitals, Simmons said.
According to Simmons, both men were wearing seat belts.
The speed of the vehicle at impact is not known, Simmons said. The posted speed limit in that area is 55 mph.
