ST. PAULS — A 19-year-old is being held under a $100,000 bond in connection with a home invasion that left a Parkton man dead and three others injured, according to a statement from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Department

Dorean Dsheem Smith, of Lumberton, is charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, first-degree burglary, attempted armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in the Dec. 23 home invasion during which 22-year-old Gary Wayne Adams was shot to death, according to the statement. The statement did not say that Smith is accused in Adams’ shooting death.

Sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch said on Dec. 27 that a neighbor, who was inside the home at the time, heard a knock on the door and when he opened it, a gunman began firing. Smith was one of three men who broke into a mobile home at 381 Edge Grove Circle at 11:45 p.m., according to the statement.

Sheriff’s Detective Brandon L. Patterson led the investigation, and sheriff’s Lt. Reggle Strickland and Detective James Obershea assisted. More arrests are expected in the case, according to the statement.

Anyone with information can call the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-272-3100. Callers can remain anonymous.

DaveD are you saying that everyone who voted for Obama is a democrat and a leech? That is a very stereotypical statement. I voted for him. I am NOT a democrat. I am a professor of Literature at a university. I pay taxes and I support what I feel is right. These young men were wrong and should have severe consequences for their actions. But don't clump us altogether in a negative light.

ANYBODY who votes for a same-sex marriage, tax-and-spend, gun confiscating democrat is part of the problem.

Yes, I'll say it. Everyone who voted for Obama is a leech and a democrat...

Also, I'd be ahamed to tell people you're a professor. What a joke. One time many years ago, teaching college was a respectable profession, but now you're an embarrassment. You're nothing more than left wing extensions of the liberal mindset. 90% of college students voted for Obama, that ought to tell you something.

The only ones who respect you are those kids who depend on you giving them a passing grade, the rest of us laugh at someone who says "i'm a professor".... good grief man, get a job.

Yes, because a truly educated citizen, in their right mind, wouldn't vote for Obama. I'm assuming that if you are really a professor you voted for him because he always promises more money for education. And if that's the case, you were bought. What does that make you? By the way, just for your information, no president has made more funds available for education than George W. Bush. If people, perhaps like you, would actually think for themselves and stop listening to the media bias that the major networks spew, a whole of people probably would have made the right choice for the country. What was it, the high unemployment? The fact that median household income is down? The smallest work force since 1979? The all-time high food stamp enrollment? The highest levels of poverty? Or was just the ol' buying out with the promise of supposed more funds for education that got you? Also, I'm an independent, so don't call me a right winger. I've voted for Reagan and I've voted for Clinton. I did not vote in '08 because both options were horrible.

Reading first, you should know Ross hates educators because he is uneducated!!! He always talks about how easy it is to become a teacher, but his child attends a private school and is being taught by someone who is not a certified instructor in any area!!! He along with his anti-Obama following(don't wanna say the "B" or "R" word) thinks PRESIDENT Obama ruined America! Ross your kind are not allowed in the Army on a regular basis, they make exceptions for you!!!! If you need further explanation of that previous statement just ask!

You're 100% CORRECT when you say "one day they will break into the wrong house and will not come out". And THAT is the ONLY thing that will ever stop this TRASH. The Courts WON'T stop it, and the po-po CAN'T stop it.

What does President Obama and democrats have to do with a home invasion/murder that took place in Robeson county??? President Obama has a job, he is your Commander-in-Chief. Boy, that burns you up don't it, so I doubt very seriously that he would feel the need to come to Robeson county, invade a home and take some innocent person's life (may he rest in peace).

Happy 236th
Thousands of people were dazzled by the fireworks display at the annual Lumberton Family Fourth celebration at the Lumberton High School football stadium on Tuesday. Many watched the display from parking lots and sidewalks around town and from their own front yards. Before the show, attendees were treated to a performance by the Carolina Breakers, and a stunt by the Army Rangers, who parachuted onto the football field.

Do you think the tax structure in North Carolina should be reformed to reduce income taxes in exchange for higher sales tax and more taxes on services?
