MAXTON — An ongoing investigation into a string of break-ins in Maxton, Rowland and Pembroke has resulted in the arrests of seven people, according to Sheriff Kenneth Sealey.

Jonathan Wayne Clark, 19, of 305 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and Josh Oxendine, 29, of 2125 Elrod Road, were arrested May 2 on outstanding warrants after their gray Chevrolet Malibu was spotted by Deputy Jeremy Hunt. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle had been seen at several of the break-ins.

“They were the ones that were going around breaking into the homes,” Sealey said. “They were the leaders. They were breaking into the homes day and night and were taking merchandise to sell at drug houses.”

Clark was charged with 13 counts of breaking and entering, 12 counts of larceny after breaking and entering, 14 counts of felony conspiracy, second-degree burglary, burglary and possession of stolen firearms. He is currently being held at the Robeson County jail under a $180,000 secured bond.

Oxendine was charged with 14 counts of breaking and entering, 13 counts of larceny after breaking and entering, 14 counts of felony conspiracy, second-degree burglary, burglary, possession of stolen firearms and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is being held under a $199,000 secured bond.

The arrests of Clark and Oxendine led to a search of 61 Trixie Drive in Pembroke, where the Sheriff’s Office said items stolen from as far back as June 2010 were found.

Shane Stewart, 34, of 61 Trixie Road, was charged with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, maintaining a drug dwelling, conspiracy to sell or deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and three counts of possession of stolen property. He was released after making a $240,000 secured bond.

Anna Lambert, 24, of also of Trixie Road, was charged with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, maintaining a drug dwelling, conspiracy to sell or deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released after making a $10,500 secured bond.

Joshua Aaron Rogers, 23, and Jonathan Rogers, also 23, of 433 Raemon Road in Maxton, were each charged with possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, maintaining a drug vehicle, conspiracy to sell or deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Joshua Rogers was placed under a $21,000 secured bond; Jonathan Rogers’ bond was set at $20,000. Both bonded out.

Ricky Braddy, 22, of 735 Hayes Road in Maxton, was charged with second-degree burglary, burglary and larceny after breaking and entering. He was released on $35,000 bond.

According to Sealey, the investigation, which continues, was spearheaded by sheriff’s Detectives Damien McClean, Adam Chavis and Brandon Patterson. He credited the arrests with the solving of 15 break-ins.

kenny, why don't you go after some big cases. Seems to me like you are after nickle and dime stuff to make it look like you are doing something. What about all the unsolved murders and violent crimes committed here in Robeson County? Why don't you catch some of those people? Are you afraid of shaking the bushes and turning over some real crimes? You might be surprised what you find. Is that why you don't devote any quality time by utilizing a task force to go after some of these cold cases because they might get solved and some big wheels might get implicated. I wonder..

PercyKution: I disagree with your statement. The data does not support your statement. Crime is at an all time high here compared to the rest of the state!

Your statement represents the ignorance that continues to kill the morale of law enforcements officers who risk his or her life everyday. While it may not seem like much to you, it means a lot to the victims and their children who may have lost a sense of security after the break-ins. To link 15 breaking and enterings to a specific group or "organization" is a huge achievement for ANY agency. Who knows the amount of time that was spent away from these officers families during the investigation, but that means nothing to you because it was not you home or family. Or maybe it means nothing to you because it gives you the chance to take jabs at Sealey. Well, I commend all participants from the dispatchers to the detectives that are involved in the cases. I pray you never experience the loss of feeling safe in your home. And if you do, I hope you get the joy of apprehension. As for murders...every agency has cold cases. But every agency doesn't have the funds for a cold case task force. Last time I check arresting individuals for burglary and the recovery of firearms are methods of detering violent crimes. Does the proactive instead of reactive method not account for anything? So, ... Try to look at the good instead of seeing an opportunity to offend others in an effort to boost your cause ... Whatever it may be!

I bet you would not think this case was small if they robbed your house.

Happy 236th
Thousands of people were dazzled by the fireworks display at the annual Lumberton Family Fourth celebration at the Lumberton High School football stadium on Tuesday. Many watched the display from parking lots and sidewalks around town and from their own front yards. Before the show, attendees were treated to a performance by the Carolina Breakers, and a stunt by the Army Rangers, who parachuted onto the football field.
