LUMBERTON — An investigator for the Columbus, Bladen and Brunswick District Attorney’s Office has pleaded guilty to driving while impaired in Robeson County, according to court documents.

Scott Alexander Pait, 40, of 655 Marsh Road in Bladenboro, was arrested at 9 p.m. on July 28, a Saturday, after a breath test found his blood-alcohol level to be .11, according to court documents. Pait was given a 30-day suspended sentence and one year of unsupervised probation, according to the documents. He was ordered to pay $540 in fines and court costs.

According to Bladen Online, Pait served a two-week suspension without pay and has been placed on a six-month administrative probation.

Pait’s license was revoked for 30 days, pending completion of a minimum of 16 hours of traffic school, according to the documents. He was awarded a privilege license at a cost of $100.

In a letter dated Aug. 2, Bladen County Assistant District Attorney Ebern T. Watson asks that Pait be granted a limited driving privilege, saying it is necessary to “accommodate the demands of his position.” Watson said Pait, who has been an investigator for the District Attorney’s Office since January 2011, “has been and will continue to be a valued member of our team in his current capacity.”

On Aug. 10, Pait also sent a letter requesting a privilege license, saying that he owns a poultry farm in Dublin that requires him to drive up to 60 miles to obtain supplies.

Pait was traveling in a 1998 Chevrolet on Meadow Road when he passed through a state Highway Patrol checkpoint near Little Marsh Road, according to a report by Trooper S.C. Hunt. Pait “came through (the) checking station with red glassy eyes and moderate smell of alcoholic beverage,” according to the report.

Pait was taken to the Robeson County jail and was quickly released, according to court documents.

Happy 236th
Thousands of people were dazzled by the fireworks display at the annual Lumberton Family Fourth celebration at the Lumberton High School football stadium on Tuesday. Many watched the display from parking lots and sidewalks around town and from their own front yards. Before the show, attendees were treated to a performance by the Carolina Breakers, and a stunt by the Army Rangers, who parachuted onto the football field.
