SHANNON — Two people who were wanted in connection with an armed robbery during which a man was shot several times have turned themselves in, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Leon Rico Locklear, 20, of Odessey Lane in Shannon, and Catherine Delaine Betty, also 20, of Yadkin Trail Road in Raeford, have been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and conspiracy, according to sheriff’s Lt. Anthony Thompson.
Locklear shot Charles Jones multiple times, in the chest, abdomen and head areas, and took about $2,100 from Jones following a disagreement outside a convenience store on April 6, according to Thompson. Locklear then fled in a green car driven by Betty.
Locklear turned himself in Friday, and is being held in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond. Locklear is currently on bond for an assault charge in Hoke County, according to sheriff’s Detective Damien McLean.
Betty turned herself in on April 23 and is being held in Robeson County Detention Center under a $65,000 secured bond, according to McLean.
Jones has been treated and released from the hospital, according to law enforcement.
