Teen charged with attempted murder

LUMBERTON — A Lumberton teenager was arrested and charged on Wednesday after attempting to rob a man at a local mobile home park, according to Capt. Terry Parker with the Lumberton Police Department. The man was shot during the attempted robbery but his injuries are not life threatening.

Dymaree Savon Thompson, 19, of Littlefield Mobile Home Park, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, attempted first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery, and conspiracy.

Parker said that Thompson was being held at the Robeson County jail under a $125,000 bond.

According to Parker, Thompson was among a group of three or four people who tried to rob 22-year-old Martinez Sanchez, of Rosewood Mobile Home Park, at about 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Parker said that Sanchez was approached by the group, and was shot once in the back as he tried to flee.

Parker said police do not believe Thompson is the shooter.

Sanchez was taken to the Southeastern Regional Medical Center and was later transferred to another hospital, according to Parker.

Parker said that police are still investigating and no other warrants have been issued. Anyone with information should call police Detective Jerry Kinlaw at 910-671-3845.

And there are those in DC who would like to see the law abiding citizens disarmed. I'm glad the man survived his attack by this group of scumbags. If he had gotten into a situation where he had to fight back, what would his options be if he was restricted to seven rounds or no gun at all?

But again, you are right on the mark as always.

The only person I know who can use the word "scumbag" and still sound so intelligent.

This is typical of sorry people that won't work. I don't want to hear another person say these Mexicans came here and stole our people's job;s. At least they will work ,and not going around robbing innocent working people like this scum has done.Get a job or go hungry, but it's too late now, you get room and FREE food ,probably what you are used to.

Grown no good American men trying to rob and kill a fella who works, has a hard time speaking our language and is from another country. But the man WORKS, and these no good men don't. How sorry and pathetic that a man can get here from another world AND FIND A JOB, but some who live here wont never work........
