LUMBERTON — Two Elizabethtown men are being held in the Robeson County jail under a combined bond of more than $1.7 million after being arrested on Monday for intending to sell 780 grams of cocaine, according to court documents.
Brian Edward Collins, 42, of 187 Dewitt Gooden Road, and Montreal Deandre Freeman, 22, of 1985 Mercer Mill Road, are each charged with two counts of felony trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, possession with intent to sell cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Collins’ bond was set at $1,150,000; Freeman has a bond of $575,000.
The two men were traveling in a 2003 black Honda Accord at 3:25 p.m. when their vehicle was stopped by a Robeson County narcotics agent and a drug-sniffing dog alerted the agent to drugs in the car, according to a warrant. The agent seized 780 grams of cocaine from the vehicle, along with plastic bags and a backpack used to package and sell the cocaine, according to the warrant.
The agent also seized prescription medication, clothing and two business cards with “drug ledgers” on the back, according to court documents. A hotel key card and paperwork with a Florida address for Brian Collins was also seized, according to the documents.
The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation, according to court documents.
