MAXTON — Two Maxton teenagers have been charged with breaking into a vacant home on Fergus Road and then burning it down, according to sheriff’s Lt. Brian Duckworth.
Quinton O’Keith Oxendine, 16, of 178 Jefferson Road, is charged with two counts of burning an uninhabited structure and two counts of felony breaking and entering into the home at 61 Fergus Road, Duckworth said. He is out of jail after making a $7,000 secured bond.
Lucas Jones, 17, of 20 Royal Drive, is charged with breaking and entering, and is out on a $1,000 secured bond.
The home was broken into twice, on May 20 and May 21, and set on fire on May 21, Duckworth said. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, but Oxendine returned to set the home on fire again on May 22, at which point the home was destroyed, according to Duckworth.
Duckworth said that more charges are pending.
