Reports that Republicans cut state money to schools are false To the Editor,
Reports that the 2011-12 school year’s budget for the Public Schools of Robeson County was slashed by Republicans in the General Assembly are not true. With the state facing a $2.8 billion deficit, all departments had to take a cut. Although state funding for public schools across North Carolina was cut approximately 5 percent, the Public Schools of Robeson County was allocated more money, not less, by the General Assembly.

When the Mississippi primary was held, the folks there had a chance to vote on what was called “The Heartbeat Bill.” It was to protect little babies in the womb. Sheriff’s Office, fair committee did great job at Relay for Life To the Editor,
As the team captain for Zion Hill 41, I just want to thank Sheriff Kenneth Sealey and his staff for a wonderful job during Relay for Life.
His deputies, especially Benji Wagner, kept a check on all of us and we felt safe. The Relay was really great and we want to thank the member of the fair committee for everything they did for the event.

Would a mother appreciate a gift of items stolen from grave? To the Editor,
Recently my children purchased several items for Mother’s Day to be placed on the gravesite of Betty J. Hammond Haats at S.A. Hammond cemetery on Rennert Road. After placement we returned about two hours later and found everything had been removed from the grave.

While I was at the county dump-site on Lamb Road recently, I noticed an old wheelbarrow sticking out of one of the Dumpsters. It was in great shape except for one broken handle.
