Slugfest postponed, games moved to Monday

Follow the up-to-the-minute weather updates concerning this weekend’s tournament using the hashtag #ROBCOSlugfest on Twitter.RED SPRINGS — A decision has been made regarding today’s Robeson County Slugfest and it’s one officials feared would occur.PSRC athletic director Jason Suggs and tournament officials talked things over Saturday morning and deemed the playing surface at Red Springs unsuitable for play, thus postponing first-round games until Monday. Suggs made the call at 7:45 a.m. and notified coaches shortly thereafter.“I was hoping to get a reprieve but Mother Nature was not kind last night and the games have been postponed,” Suggs said.

 

Tribe seeks $100,000 gift from county

LUMBERTON — The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is expected to ask the Robeson County Board of Commissioners on Monday to donate at least $100,000 to help pay the cost of restoring the N.C.
