FAYETTEVILLE — The Lumberton boys soccer picked up a road Sandhills Athletic Conference win by a 5-2 score over Seventy-First.

The Pirates led 2-1 at the half behind goals from Cole Lewis and Niguel Hernandez. After halftime, two goals from Rene Altamirano and one from Hector Casarrubias opened up the match in the second half.

TENNIS

The Purnell Swett girls tennis team earned a 6-3 victory at Scotland on Tuesday.

Malina Cummings, Elysha Strickland, Harlie Scott and Tierra Locklear swept their singles and doubles matches to lead the Lady Rams, who broke a three-match losing streak with the victory.

In other Sandhills Athletic Conference action, the Lumberton girls tennis team dropped an 8-1 match at Jack Britt on Tuesday.

In Three Rivers Conference tennis, Red Springs earned a 9-0 victory over rival St. Pauls. Hermelinda Mendoza, Gabrielle Pecina, Selina Franco, Stephanie Alejandro, Bianca Uribe and Aurely Cruz swept their singles and doubles matches for the Lady Red Devils.

VOLLEYBALL

Fairmont won in straight sets over South Robeson at home in four sets. Using scores of 25-12, 25-14, 23-25 and 25-9, the Lady Tornadoes improved to 8-2 overall and 7-2 in Three Rivers Conference play.

Kiara Page logged 23 service points, 10 aces and eight kills to lead Fairmont, with Krishay Moore adding 28 assists and 15 service points.

Mya Strickland contributed 14 kills and MacKenzie Johnson tallied 17 digs for the Lady Golden Tornadoes.

Destiny Strickland logged 10 service points and five kills to lead South Robeson, with Werrell adding nine kills.

On Wednesday, Lumberton earned a 3-0 victory over South View.
