BEAVERTON, Ore. — The University of North Carolina at Pembroke men’s basketball team found itself back in familiar territory on Tuesday morning when the Braves checked into the No. 23 position in the Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25 poll.

It is the first preseason ranking for UNCP since the 2015-16 campaign when it was listed 10th in the Division II Bulletin Top 25 and 13th in the National Association of Basketball Coaches ranking.

UNCP is one of just three teams from the NCAA Southeast Region included in any of the four preseason polls. Queens is No. 2 in all four preseason rankings, while Lincoln Memorial ranks among the nation’s top seven teams in all four polls as well.

The D2SIDA.com Preseason Top 25 is expected to be released later next week.

UNCP will continue the preseason exhibition portion of its 2017-18 schedule on Friday when it makes the long trek to Omaha, Neb., to take on 2016-17 NCAA Tournament participant Creighton. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
