ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. — William McGirt continued his strong start to the PGA Tour season with a second consecutive top-10 finish this weekend at the RSM Classic.
The 38-year-old Fairmont native, who is in his eighth season on the tour, finished in a tie for eighth at Sea Island and earned a payout of $167,400 to push his career earnings just over $10 million.
It’s McGirt’s first time logging consecutive top-10 finishes since 2015 when he finished in a tie for eighth at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and logged a runner-up finish in the Sanderson Farms Championship.
With rounds of 70, 68, 65 and a final-round 66 on the Seaside Course to get to 13 under for the tourney, McGirt closed the 2017 portion of the schedule with his best finish since a tie for third at Harbour Town last April.
Austin Cook finished at 21 under to earn a four-stroke victory over J.J. Spaun in Georgia.
McGirt will be back in action on Jan. 11, 2018 at the Sony Open in Honolulu.
