LUMBERTON — The Purnell Swett wrestling team reeled off a perfect day, while the Lumberton wrestling team picked up two wins at the Lumberton duals tournament on Saturday.

The Rams finished 4-0 in the tournament with wins over Carolina Forest, St. Pauls, Marion and Douglas Byrd. Jonathan Locklear, William Deese, Rommie McNeill and Noah Locklear all went 4-0 for the Rams in their matches.

Lumberton defeated Douglas Byrd and Marion, but lost to Carolina Forest. Leading the way for the Pirates was Sincere Johnson, Yakemiean Johnson, Derrick McCall and Tray Gordon each won their three matches on the day.

Lumberton hosts Purnell Swett on Wednesday at 6 p.m. for the Sandhills Athletic Conference opener for both teams. Purnell Swett is ranked No. 2 in the 4A East region, and Lumberton is No. 3.
