Five N.C. schools make NCAA Tournament

The NCAA men’s basketball tournament bracket was released Sunday and five North Carolina schools made the field of 68.

North Carolina leads the way as the top seed in the South Region and will play No. 16 Texas Southern in Greenville, S.C., on Friday.

Duke will join the Tar Heels in Greenville on Friday. The Blue Devils enter the field as a No. 2 seed in the East Region and will face 15th-seeded Troy.

Wake Forest will take part in the First Four on Tuesday in Dayton, Ohio. The 11th-seeded Demon Deacons will face 11th-seeded Kansas State for a chance to play No. 6 Cincinnati in the South Region.

North Carolina Central and UNC Wilmington round out the North Carolina schools that made the field. The No. 12 Seahawks will face No. 5 Virginia in the East Region on Thursday in Orlando. The No. 16 Eagles are set to battle U.C. Davis in Dayton on Wednesday for a chance to play top-seeded Kansas in the Midwest Region.
