ST. PAULS — A walk-a-thon that will raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital will be held on April 23 at St. Pauls High School.

The event, held on the track, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

FAIRMONT — The winner of Fairmont’s first Cash for Trash contest was Katelyn Bass, who collected 976 pounds of recyclable material.

She received $100 for winning the contest, which led to more than 1,800 pounds of recyclables being collected.

Runners-up were Ruby Parker with 496 pounds, Brooke Smith with 303 pounds, Ann Bean with 117 pounds and Kara Miller with 17 pounds.

LUMBERTON —Dixie Land, the author of 10 romantic suspense novels, will speak at the Osterneck Auditorium on Thursday.

Land will speak at 7 p.m. about her new novel and her publishing business.

LUMBERTON — An Easter play, called “He did it just for me” will be held at the Parkview Activity Center on Sunday.

Admission is free, and the show starts at 6 p.m.
