Joanne McGill Ackerman, right, a former Fairmont resident, had lunch with Prince Charles and a tour of a village called Poundbury on Nov. 16. Prince Charles and his foundation designed and built the fully sustainable land, which may be used as a model for a development in Atlanta. Ackerman’s husband is a real estate developer. The day they met Prince Charles was the same day Prince William announced his engagement to Kate Middleton. Ackerman’s father Jack McGill was from Lumberton and her mother, Audrey McGill, lives in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
