Alive After 5 Thursday

LUMBERTON —The Alive After 5 concert series will continue Thursday with the Black Water Rhythm & Blues Band.

The concert will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the corner of Third and Water streets. Beverages and ice cream will be for sale.

Upcoming performers include Craig Woolard on June 23; and the Band of Oz on June 30.

Movie, concert at CCC today

LUMBERTON — A movie and concert will be held at the Carolina Civic Center today.

The movie “Karate Kid” will be shown at 2 p.m., and the United States Air Force Langley Winds will be playing at 7 p.m. Both shows are free. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult to the movie. Lobby doors for the concert open an hour before the show.

Cinderella on stage Thursday

LUMBERTON — “Cinderella, the Musical” will be performed from Thursday through Saturday and June 23 through June 25 at Bravo Studios Cabaret Theatre in Lumberton.

The show, presented by Purple Door Productions, will be held at 7 p.m. except for the Saturday performances, which are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. . A combination ticket for a child and adult is $10.

Art program

deadline is July 1

LUMBERTON — Applications for the North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program are due to the Carolina Civic Center Foundation by 5 p.m. on July 1.

Grants, given to Robeson County arts organizations, are between $2,000 and $5,000 and support local cultural projects that occur between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012.

Grant applications must be sent by mail to the Carolina Civic Center at P.O. Box 844, Lumberton, N.C. 28359, or delivered to the offices at 315 N. Chestnut St. in downtown Lumberton. Use the Fourth Street administrative entrance.
