Whitney Joeill McFarland

Whitney Joeill McFarland is the 23-year-old daughter of William and Janie McFarland from Fairmont. She is a graduate of East Carolina University, where she received her bachelor’s of science in Health Education and Promotion with a concentration in Worksite Health. She is currently working on her masters through East Carolina University in Health Education and Promotion. Whitney works at the county Health Department as a public health educator. Her platform is cardiovascular disease awareness. Whitney sang “If I Had My Way” by Linda Eder during the talent portion.

Senior Miss Lumbee

Linda Lowery

Linda Lowery is 65 years old and lives in Lumberton. She is married to Henry Berry Lowery and has two children and two grandchildren. She is a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she sings in the choir and volunteers in weekly Bible studies. She enjoys bowling, fishing and quilting. She has participated in the Senior Games for 10 years, where she competes in the 100-meter run, 200-meter run and the 5K walk.

Taley Anna Strickland

Taley Anna Strickland is the 15-year-old daughter of Gary and Hope Strickland of Pembroke. She is a sophomore at Purnell Swett High School who sang “This is the Moment” from the musical “Jekyll and Hyde” at the pageant. Her platform is Breakfast Buddies, which is a mentoring program between high school students and elementary school students that she implemented at Purnell Swett High School and Pembroke Elementary School.

Junior Miss Lumbee

Alaina Faith Malcolm

Alaina Faith Malcolm is the 12-year-old daughter of Joshua and Meloria Malcolm of Pembroke. She is a seventh-grader at Pembroke Middle School, where she is a member of the Junior Beta Club. She has danced since she was 5 years old and is an assistant instructor and dance student at Amy’s Academy of Dance Arts. She is also a member of the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble. Her talent was tap dancing, and she performed to the orchestrated version of “Run this Town” by Jay-Z and Rihanna.

Calista Nicole Deal

Calista Nicole Deal is the 8-year-old daughter of the Rev. Bobby and Kelly Deal of Pembroke. She is a fourth-grader at Pembroke Elementary School and likes to sing and play with her dolls. Her talent was singing and she performed “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” She also won Best Talent, Best Dress, and Miss Congeniality.
