LUMBERTON — Authorities are looking for a man who robbed the Trader’s Station at gunpoint on Friday and kidnapped a clerk.
According to sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch, the man, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, entered the store at 8750 N.C. 41 at about 11:45 p.m. Friday and walked around for a few minutes.
The man then pulled out a handgun and forced one of two customers in the store to open the cash register and took $300 to $400 cash, Branch said.
The robber grabbed the 29-year-old clerk by the arm and took her out the door to her car, Branch said. The two left in her car, with the robber holding the gun to the clerk, who was driving her vehicle.
At about 3:30 a.m., the woman returned to the store, where officers were still investigating, Branch said. She was not injured.
Branch would not disclose where the clerk drove the robber, or how she was able to get away. The woman was able to offer a few names to deputies, but Branch said they were not full names, only “street names.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 671-3100.
