FAIRMONT — Elizabeth Alexandra Rogers, a senior at Fairmont High School, was named queen at the second annual Pretty In Pink Pageant.
The pageant, sponsored by the Robeson County Government Diamond Divas and Dukes team, raised money for Relay for Life.
Rogers is the daughter of Sue Jacobs-Rogers.
LUMBERTON — Nominations are being accepted for the 2012 Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service until Nov. 11.
Each county selects five individuals, businesses, groups/teams and one director of volunteers to be recognized for contributions to their communities. One of the five recipients will be nominated to receive the Governor’s Medallion Award for Volunteer Service. A local committee evaluates the nominations.

PARKTON — The Fright Train, which runs through scenes of horror in the woods and swamp area with open railcars, will back on track on Friday and Saturday.
The railcar train leaves the Parkton Depot every 30 minutes beginning at 7 each night of the ride, with the last ride leaving at 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for children ages 2 through 12 and $8 for adults ages 13 and up. Children under 2 years old can ride for free. Tickets will go on sale each day of the ride at 4 p.m. at the Parkton Depot. There will be food and entertainment during the wait.

LUMBERTON — Kiwanis of Robeson-Lumberton is accepting applications for fund requests during the 2011-2012 year.
The deadline is Nov. 2. To request an application, send an email to the club at thekiwanisclub@gmail.com. Applicants must be nonprofits that benefit the children of Robeson County.
The applicant will be notified by Dec. 7 if the application meets the Kiwanis of Robeson-Lumberton criteria.
ORRUM — The Lumber River Historical Haunted Hay Ride will be held on Thursday and Friday at the Princess Ann Access Area of Lumber River State Park.
Hay rides for children will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and during that time an outdoor movie “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” will be playing. Haunted hay rides will be from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Space is limited.

FAIRMONT — Victoria Flowers was named the winner in the third annual Cash for Trash student recycling contest.
Flowers, who brought in 3,344 pounds of recyclables, won $100 cash. Katelynn Bass came in second with 2,226 pounds, and Nicholas Mitchell came in third with 1,020 pounds.
PARKTON — The Parkton Haunted Trail will be from 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at 19 W. Third Street in Parkton, behind the police department.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
LUMBERTON — A Family Pumpkin Carving Social will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Parkview Activity Center.
