Nathan Patterson receives
Bryant Wicker scholarship
CHAPEL HILL — The University of North Carolina School of Dentistry recently announced the first recipient of the Bryant Wicker Memorial Scholarship, which was named in honor of former Maxton dentist Dr. Bryant Wicker following his death in 2001.
The Bryant Wicker Memorial Scholarship, which was awarded to Nathan Patterson of Burlington, was established by Wicker’s wife, Shirley Wicker in 2002.
The scholarship also received contributions from Wicker’s sister and a number of other donors committed to permanently linking Wicker’s love for dentistry with the UNC School of Dentistry.
The scholarship recognizes a dentistry student from North Carolina who qualifies for financial aid, is making satisfactory academic progress and who plans to practice dentistry in an under-served area of North Carolina.
