ELIZABETHTOWN — A 64-year-old St. Pauls man is accused of shooting his girlfriend in the lower left leg with a shotgun about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Bladen County sheriff’s report.

Albert Council, 64, of 91 Council Blvd., was arrested by deputies and placed in jail under a $150,500 secured bond. He was charged with assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

The incident reportedly occurred during an argument between Council and his long-time girlfriend, Peggy Kemp Bell, 54. Bell was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wound

The report said alcohol was a factor in the shooting.

In deed he does look like Jesse Jackson. As for St. Pauls, I worked there for a few years, and I never drank the water.I was convinced all the crazies lived in St. Pauls, and it had to come from the water supply. Everyone I worked with had a few screws loose. My hubby worked there for 30 odd years, and I swear he started acting like them folks from St.Pauls. I think since he retired he has gotten better. You just can't erase stupitity. This guy here looks like he's blessed with it,and as always alcohol was a factor in the incident.

That boy looks like The Rev. Jesse Jackson. Wonder what his "long-time" girlfriend did to make him THAT mad. You can't go around blowing off your girlfriend's leg with a shotgun. Silly thing. Not even in St. Pauls. Although there ARE some women in St. Pauls that will try your last nerve. Well, there WAS one. I've got her down here in the swamp now trying to reprogram her. Poor thing got mixed up with a little Dwarf from Red Springs and he just about ruined her. That and trying to teach in PSRC. She's coming along real well with her rehabilitation though. I might keep her.
