RAEFORD — A Maxton man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Thursday in Hoke County.
Devon Lee Locklear, 20, of Red Hill Road, was driving north at about 8:23 a.m. Thursday along Old Wire Road about 7.5 miles southwest of Raeford when he lost control of his 1996 Ford passenger car, according to the Highway Patrol.
Locklear’s vehicle crossed the center line of the service road, swerved off the left shoulder and struck a tree. He died on impact.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident. The report filed by the patrol did not indicate how fast the car was traveling.
