To the Editor,
We as concerned citizens want to know where the funds are to help Indian people in need. I took a lady down to the Lumbee tribal offices recently and she was sent to the Social Services, where she was turned around because she was Indian.
Now explain why she would be sent to DSS. They only help blacks, whites and Mexicans. It seems to me that the Lumbee Tribe only wants to help certain people and that is wrong. The Lumbee Tribe won’t help if one of the parents or grandparents is a certain race and Social Srvices won’t help if you are raising Indian children. Now that is very wrong.
I always thought that all people are the same. They bleed the same color of blood, so what is the problem? Everyone is suppose to be created equal. What happened?
No funds where are they at? Funds are expected after Oct. 1, 2011. It is already November.

Jesus once visited the same tribe office disguised as a begger and he too was turned away simply because he's a Jew.

I can tell you myself that I was certified to get that "fuel check" by DSS but when it came to the Lumbee tribe I was TURNED DOWN. Anyone who thinks these agencies are "playing by the same rules are dumber than a box of rocks."
The Lumbee "Travel" Council is in Oregon this week. Are any workers from DSS out there? There are people who are on Disability on the Travel Council going all over the country. If you can Travel, you can WORK!
No, there is nothing fair about the way the Lumbees are being treated. I think the government should make the Lumbees send the money back to DSS (at least they are FAIR).
To turn someone away and not let them fill out and application and send them to the tribe is like sending them BACK TO THE BALCONY OF THE CAROLINA THEATER....we do not need to repeat ourselves. Things were much better when DSS handled these funds.
