LUMBERTON -- Backed by Jordan Dickerson's two goals and an assist, the Lumberton soccer team handed Richmond a 5-2 loss in non-conference action Wednesday.

After an early 1-0 deficit, the Pirates (3-0) kicked things into gear when Corey Simmons found the back of the net to tie the contest. Dickerson then grabbed his first goal with 11 minutes left in the half to give Lumberton its first lead of the contest.

The Pirates tacked on another goal before the midway point, as Chad Sanders' score gave the team a 3-1 lead. Levi McNeall and Dickinson quickly finished off the Raiders (0-1) with goals in the second half to put the game out of reach.

According to Lumberton head coach Kenny Simmons, his club played well against a quality opponent.

"Of the three games so far, this was probably our toughest opponent," he said. "It was good to see the guys respond well and get the job done."
