Bethea, Miller lead Rams

past South Robeson

In Pembroke, Levander Bethea scored 18 points and Eric Miller added 17 to lead Purnell Swett High past South Robeson High, 64-48, in the first round of the Robeson County Shootout on Wednesday.

The Rams opened with a 12-4 run in the first quarter and never looked back, and improved to 7-4 overall.

South Robeson dropped to 1-7.

The Mustangs rebounded in the second quarter by outscoring Purnell Swett, 17-14, but the Rams used a 17-9 third quarter to seal the win.

Jordan Hunt led South Robeson with 15 points, while teammate Tyray Belin added 11.

Trio leads Lady Devils

past Flora Macdonald

In Red Springs, Amanda Sinclair's 15 points led a trio of Lady Red Devil scorers in double figures to beat Flora Macdon-ald, 66-28, on the girls side of the Robeson County Shootout.

Red Springs took a 15-6 lead after the first quarter and 33-11 into halftime en route to the win.

Any doubt about the outcome was answered in the third quarter, when the Lady Devils outscored Flora Macdonald by 25-9.

Kassiona Chandler added 13 points and Tasha Leggett had 11 points for Red Springs.

The win boosted Red Springs to 10-0 this season. The Lady Red Devils will face Lumberton at 6 p.m. at Lumberton High today.
