Julia Meadows Owens, 71, of 68 Branch Farm Acres Drive, died June 9, 2007, at Duke University Medical Center.

The memorial will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Biggs Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Dean Carter officiating.

Owens was born in Robeson County on May 28, 1936. She was the daughter of Ernest and Eula Taylor Grimsley.

Owens was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Beaufort F. Owens; a son, Jeffery L. Owens; and a granddaughter, Shannon E. Wingerter.

Surviving are a son, Darryl G. Owens of Medford, Ore.; eight daughters, Gail Yaunk of Hialeah, Fla., Cheryl Villarico of Kissimee, Fla., Missy Campos of Plantation, Fla., Kim Owens of Hialeah, Fla., Lindy Lundy of Fayetteville, Carol Wingerter of Sanford, Beth Owens and Shannon Lindsey, both of the home; three brothers, Horice Grimsley of Lumberton, Edward Grimsley of Los Angeles, and O'Berry Grimsley of Maryland; two sisters, Bonnie Alex of Oklahoma and Mary Adams of Lumberton; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four expected great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 7 to 9 tonight at Biggs Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
