Residents wait for answers; Town Board hears handicapped housing proposal

Many residents and concerned citizens attended the regular monthly RS Town Board meeting hoping to get some answers to lingering questions, but their hopes have been dashed once again. It was only business as usual Tuesday night at Town Hall. No closed sessions. No lawyers. No frowns and frustrated looks. Almost like nothing ever happened.

The Red Springs Board of Commissioners met Tuesday and got its first look at a site plan to build 12 single-housing cottages on the vacant land between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue.

About one year ago Barbara Melvin, executive director of the housing authority, approached the board about the transfer of property to her agency. In March the board voted unanimously to donate about 2
