Our leaders are going to waste $3.7 million on a horse arena

To the Editor,

The article about the horse arena in Sunday’s The Robesonian shows why North Carolina and especially Robeson County need new leaders and most importantly a new senator. The facility, which will cost $3.7 million, will probably never get used.

We have no jobs to feed our families and our government wants to build a horse park or something equally asinine. What is going to happen to Robeson County when we like South Carolina run out of funds to pay unemployment benefits? Will we have to beg money from the federal government like South Carolina did?

People in Robeson County have more important needs than horse parks. Has anyone been down to the farmers market lately? Did you see all the action that was taking place down there? Was it so busy being overrun with customers that you had to go back another day?

Wake up people and demand that our officials do something useful with $3.7 million that Weinstein is "scared to death that we going to lose." Let it benefit us all and not just the few that have money to feed their horses while the rest of us live on food stamps.

The farmers market opened in 1999 and has done nothing but lose millions of dollars! So why are the broke folks the only ones to see that it is time to scrap the whole thing?

On the other hand it will provide some jobs for some people from somewhere.
