Shootout Day 2 Roundup: Rams win pair; Mustangs swept

RED SPRINGS — Purnell Swett’s boys basketball team sent Red Springs to its 10th straight loss Friday night, advancing to the Robeson County Shootout’s Day 3 at UNCP with a 72-28 victory.

The Rams (7-2) will play Dillon, S.C. in today’s fifth-place game at noon.

Point guard Juwan Jones led Swett with 11 points against the Red Devils while Tyrell McDonald 10. Quinn Lowery paced Red Springs with 14 points.

Rams rebound for victory

After being upset in Thursday’s Shootout opening round at St. Pauls, Swett’s girls basketball team rebounded with a 49-13 win against Flora Macdonald Friday.

The Rams (8-1) only played their starters for the opening quarter. Danyel Locklear’s team battles Dillon, S.C. in today’s opening game at UNCP at 10 a.m.

South Robeson boys, girls fall to Dillon, S.C.

ROWLAND — Dillon, S.C. scored in double figures all four quarters Friday night to upend South Robeson's boys team, 55-37.
