LUMBERTON — The SwaggedOut Teen Summit will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the Carolina Civic Center.
The event is about every day issues that young people face. There will be live musical performances by Troop 41, Pooh Bear, Colandra McDowell, and Miss Capital City USA Ashley Mills. Tickets are $10 and include a talent show, a dance contest, a drawing and lunch provided by 3rd Street Grille.

FAIRMONT — The seventh annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Fairmont Heritage Center.
There will be a re-creation of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, singing and refreshments. Dr. J. Gentile Everett will be the speaker. The public is invited.
LUMBERTON — Auditions for “Into the Woods Jr.” will be held Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 at the Carolina Civic Center.
The production is part of the Kids on Stage Series at the theater, and will be presented April 27 through April 29. Children ages 7 to 18 are invited to audition. Auditioners should be prepared to sing a song, move around the stage and read from a provided script. They must bring their own music and sneakers are recommended.

LUMBERTON — The Dulcimer and Folksong Club meeting will be held at 3 p.m. on Jan. 7 at Riverway Education Center, located at 600 Kingsdale Boulevard in Lumberton.
There will be loaner dulcimers and free lessons. Other acoustic instruments are welcome.
