LUMBERTON — Someone broke into a Lumberton elementary school on Monday and stole about $2,000 worth of items, but apparently abandoned most of the loot.
According to a police report, several items that were taken from Tanglewood Elementary School on West 29th Street were found on 11th Street at about 2 a.m. Monday. They were identified because they had the school’s name on them.
Upon checking the school, police found a door to a classroom had been opened and that several items were missing, including a $400 laptop computer, a $500 computer, two $400 flat-screen monitors and a $500 projector.
The thieves apparently were thirsty as several packs of juice were also missing from the room.
According to the report, all the items were recovered except the laptop computer. The report did not indicate how the thieves gained access to the room.
