First Bank honors local employees

TROY — Several employees of First Bank branches in Robeson County were recently honored recently at First Bancorp’s annual Retirement and Service Awards Banquet.

Vesta Monroe and Mike Vinson, both of Lumberton, and Patsy Schroeder of St. Pauls were honored for 15 years of service at the bank. Angela Chavis of Pembroke was recognized for 10 years of service.

Phyllis McDuffie of St. Pauls was recognized as a retiree.

First Bancorp is a bank holding company with headquarters in Troy. Its has 97 branches, including five branches in Robeson County, in St. Pauls, Pembroke, Maxton, Lumberton and Fairmont. It has total assets of about $3.3 billion.

Jobs summit

set for Jan. 31

FAIRMONT — A jobs and business summit will be held at 7 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the Fairmont Heritage Center.

All Fairmont businesses are invited to send representatives to the summit, which will focus on supporting local businesses and creating jobs. Members of the JOBS team — Job Opportunities and Business Support — and a federal official will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice.
