Lumberton

Bobbie Sessoms Chick, 77, of Lumberton, formerly of Aiken, S.C., died

Jan. 16, 2009, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Frances DeSales Church, the

Rev. Robert YanKevitch officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook

Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, LeRoy "Billy"" Sessoms Jr.

and Sidney Ray Sessoms.

She was born in Lumberton on Sept. 1, 1931. She was the oldest of five

children of the late Maitland Johnson Sessoms and LeRoy Sessoms.

She attended Wake Forest University and was musically talented in

piano and saxophone, and she loved to sing. "Jesus Loves Me" was one

of her favorite songs. She was also an avid golfer.

She lived in Aiken, S.C., for 54 years before moving back to

Lumberton. She was a member St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic

Church in Aiken, S.C., and was active in her church until her

declining health became a problem.

Surviving are her husband, Martin J. Chick, Sr., two children;

Catherine Chick and her husband, Stan Turner, both of Charleston,

S.C., and Martin J. Chick, Jr. and his wife, Stacy Chick, both of

Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Betty S. Nicholson and Patricia

Musselwhite; four grandchildren, Joseph, Catherine, Sydney and James

Chick.

The family will receive friends tonight at the home of Betty S.

Nicholson on Highland Avenue in Lumberton.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis DeSales Church, 2000

Elizabethtown Road, Lumberton, N.C. 28358.
